Work-life balance and How Planful Achieves it
By Lily Whorl
The great Dolly Parton once said, “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
Here at Planful, we know too well that work-life balance is quite the task to achieve, yet we see the importance of it ask well.
Having a poor work-life balance brings many adverse effects to one’s life. This uneven balance shortens or outright ruins your time spend with family and friends. It causes employees to exhibit low morale in the office place
Our employees have some tips, tricks, and tools to help guide you on your way to a close to perfect work-life balance.
Julia, one of our graphic design interns, answered the question of what her favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day was.
“If the weather is nice, I take my dog for a long hike, or sit outside and read. If it’s too late in the day or bad weather, I pick up some dinner/snacks, throw on a comfy sweatshirt and pants, and watch true crime documentaries on Netflix.”
Do you ever find yourself struggling to maintain a work-life balance? How do you fix that? A challenging answer that Carley Donia, a graphic design intern had a great response to.
“Sometimes I do struggle to find a balance between work and life. Often, I’ll be trying to relax after work or trying to fall asleep at night, and I’ll be thinking about a project I’m working on and different things I could do for that project. But of course, I don’t want to be up at night, or stressing about a project when I’m not even at work. So, what I usually do to fix this is put a notebook next to my bed at night, and I will write down all of the ideas I’m thinking about, so they are out of my head and on paper. That way I can refer back to my ideas that next day at work and I’m not stressing about it anymore when I’m off the clock.”
A work-life balance tip our marketing intern Nicole is to wake up earlier than you need to in the morning to have time for yourself, whether it be enjoying a cup of coffee, reading, or working out.
Planful’s owner Sarah told us how she maintains a work-life balance.
“I make sure I have a lot of fun family, and social events planned that force me to put work to the side and make that a priority. Every month I make sure to have things planned that I will not cancel on.”
As for me, Lily, a marketing intern here well I can take all the help I can get. If you have any steps, you take to perfect your work-life balance comment and let us know.
