Social Media and Your Business
By Jenn Clark
By now, you may have realized the importance of utilizing social media in your business. You most likely hear about it all the time, and you either have a Facebook page or have been dreading the thought of creating one. Even the mere thought of implementing any of the other sites is just a migraine waiting to happen.
Are we hitting the nail on the head?
It’s OK, we get it. It can be confusing (and difficult) to decide what’s right for your company and how to manage all of them at once.
Before jumping in to the social media game, you should know some fundamentals about some of the basic sites:
There are others that made a rise in 2014, like Ello and Snapchat, but we won’t get into those this round.
You may already be aware of your options and how they work; thus, moving forward, how do you decide what’s right for you?
First, you must define your audience. Who are your current customers or who is it you are trying to reach? What is it you want to say or do? What goals would you have using social media? Write these down first prior to creating a business account for Pinterest.
Following the definition of your audience, you should be developing a social media calendar and objective, just as you would for any marketing strategy and business plan. What are your goals in reaching out to your audience?
As your goals are set and you begin to dive into the world of social media, think about the product or service you have to offer. Are there several opportunities to share images? Do you have a store (online and/or offline)? Are you a design company?
Not every business should have more than two social media accounts. But, at this point, we highly recommend at least tapping into the world of Twitter and Facebook.
